This source falls into the non-academic writing genre. Although this piece of writing does have some characteristics such as some vocabulary that is not common to the general population it is overall a non-academic piece because the audience is engineers and all engineers should be able to understand the used vernacular. As well as the information being new to some engineers it would make it seem that it is an academic work but in reality the information is only new to those that are not in that specific field of engineering. This piece also doesn't have many numbers and statistics as would expect to see in an academic piece for engineering. It really gives a general overview of the topic. I will use this piece to show how engineers report to a broader audience that isn't their colleagues.
This source falls into the academic genre of writing. The structure and language really tells us that it is an academic source. The structure is so so that it is able to be glanced over so that the person reading it can easily find the information that is prevalent to what they are looking/researching for. I will use this source to show how data is integrated into writing when writing for an academic purpose. This sources gives plenty of information that would not be understood with out a "dumbed down" vocabulary for the general public.
This source falls under the academic writing genre mostly because of the language that is used. Although there is some explanation on some topics within the report they are only their to explain the things that are used within that smaller niche field. The larger stuff like circuits and logic systems are not explained well because it is assumed that the reader is competent in those areas. I will use this source to show the difference between academic sources and how they can vary slightly when it comes to the language and how some are most explanatory of their material when not necessary for an academic paper.
